Practise with Wordle Unlimited, without limits

Wordle Unlimited is a free browser game for anyone who loves five-letter guessing puzzles and wishes there were more than one a day. Each round hides a random five-letter word. You have six tries to find it, and after every guess the tiles change colour to tell you how close you are. Finished? Press New Game and the next word is ready straight away.

How the colour hints work in Wordle Unlimited

A green tile means the letter is correct and in the right place. A yellow tile means the letter appears in the word but in a different position. A grey tile means the letter is not in the word, or that you have already found all of its copies. The Wordle Unlimited keyboard keeps track of the same information, so you always know which letters are still available.

Tips for solving Wordle Unlimited in fewer guesses

  • Open with variety. A first word with several different common letters, including a couple of vowels, gives the most information.
  • Use the grey letters. Once a letter is ruled out, leave it alone unless you are testing for double letters.
  • Think about position. A yellow letter cannot go where you just tried it. Move it to a new spot in the next guess.
  • Watch for double letters. Words such as ASSET or LLAMA are fair answers, and the colours handle repeated letters carefully.
  • Eliminate, then commit. If several answers fit a pattern, pick a guess that splits them apart rather than a word that only confirms one of them.
